Long before the reign of cheap television, the pulp magazine - from the 1890s to the 1940s - was the mainstay of lowbrow entertainment. Printed on cheap paper (hence "pulp"), written by cheap writers, and bought by the average working stiff, pulp fiction in all its lurid forms would nonetheless influence the lives and careers of generations of readers and writers. Esteemed authors such as Joseph Conrad, Upton Sinclair, and Jack London all tried their hand writing for the pulps, while lesser-known writers like Robert E. Howard, Sax Rohmer, and Edgar Wallace made a career of it.

Pulp stories cover a wide range of genres like adventure, western, crime and sci-fi, so the stories in this collection vary widely, like Edgar Wallace's Angel of Terror, Sax Rohmer's Sins of Severac Bablon, and A. Merritt's The Face in the Abyss. And then there's Edgar Rice Burroughs - perhaps the prince of pulp - whose Martian and Tarzan books dominated the scene for decades. Relive the bygone era of cowboys, evil villains, gangsters and femme fatales with our action-packed Pulp collection!
