When it comes to classic adventure novels, and books about adventurous characters, we have thousands of great titles from masters like Jules Verne, Jack London and H.G. Wells. The Three Musketeers and The Count of Monte Cristo are a few greats from Dumas. The classic adventure novel The Scarlet Pimpernel by the Baroness Orczy predates Batman and Zorro with its “masked hero.”

Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson is action packed, and Defoe’s Robinson Crusoe book is a great tale of a man on a desert isle. Then there’s the work of Edgar Rice Burroughs - while much of it is sci-fi, it’s all adventure! Try At the Earth's Core. For some Western adventure, try the Life of Kit Carson or Daniel Boone. Jack London’s work is all adventure, such as his novel The Sea Wolf. Two Years Before the Mast by Richard Henry Dana is an amazing personal tale of adventure at sea.
